Searching for the ultimate Chattanooga barbecue experience? Look no further than Chattanooga BBQ Week, June 5 to June 11! Organized by Chatt Taste Food Tours and Nooga Nightlife, lucky diners will be able to advantage of $6 BBQ specials at participating local barbeque joints to find the best BBQ in Chattanooga!

If you’ve joined us for our Battle Below the Clouds festival and amateur competition, you know we’re serious about good BBQ and the way it brings people together.  In honor of Chattanooga BBQ Week, check out some of our local favorites!

Puckett’s Chattanooga

Puckett’s was voted one of the 10 Best BBQ Restaurants in the U.S. by TravelAwaits! Their barbecue is prepared in the traditional Memphis BBQ style – smoked over cherry wood with a dry rub, cooked slowly, and at low temperatures. The result? Tender meat with a delightfully sweet, smoky flavor.

Try their Cherry Wood-Smoked Baby Back Ribs. Order a half or full rack with a side of smoked baked beans, potato salad, and their signature Cajun corn cake.

You may find yourself craving this classic Tennessee BBQ dinner all summer long, but no worries, lucky locals can order takeout or dine-in 7 days a week!

Naked River Brewing Co.

This local brewery is known for its unique beer flavor pairings, including their Chocolate Moonpie® Stout and Peanut Butter Man Porter. But how does their barbeque game hold up?

Naked River smokes their meat with a dry rub cooked low and slow over an oak wood fire. If you like homecrafted BBQ, this is your place! They offer a variety of meats to choose from: pulled pork, brisket, chicken, turkey, and even jackfruit for the vegetarians out there!

We highly ecommend Naked River’s BBQ BYOT (Build Your Own Tacos). These come with three flour tortillas topped with 1/2 pound of your smoked meat of choice, smoked salsa, slaw, siracha sour cream, and pickled onions. Talk about the perfect summer party food!

The Purple Daisy Cafe

A charming little spot in the heart of the St. Elmo neighborhood, the Purple Daisy Cafe sits at the base of the beautiful Lookout Mountain, just a few minutes from Ruby Falls.  Serving a timeless menu of sandwiches, salads, and (of course) barbeque, this is a perfect spot for a casual, come as your are, summertime meal.

The Purple Daisy Cafe’s BBQ Nachos can’t be beat. Covered with white queso cheesy goodness, these nachos come with either barbeque chicken or pork, and topped with lettuce, onions, tomatoes, jalapeños, and sour cream. Perfect for sharing or keeping them all for yourself!

BARQUE

Located in the Southside Creative District, BARQUE serves up authentic Texas-style barbecue with a dash of Chattanooga. Chow down on their spacious porch or beat the summer heat by dining in.

For the full BBQ experience, try one of their barbeque trays. Choose from their house-smoked chicken, pulled pork, ribs, or brisket, served with two sides, cornbread, and pickles. All their sides sound divine, but for a true Southern BBQ experience, get the collard greens and mac & cheese. And for dessert? Banana pudding, of course!

Battle Below the Clouds

If you love creating and eating barbeque, check out our annual Battle Below the Clouds, the friendliest BBQ festival and amateur barbeque competition in the South!

Amateur grillers and smokers compete for bragging rights as the best backyard cooks in the region. This all-day festival features live bluegrass, activities for kids, BBQ for purchase and incredible giveaways like a Big Green Egg while independent judges select the Best Pulled Pork, Best Ribs, Best Chicken Wings, and Grand Champion.

This delicious event returns Spring 2024 for its 9th year. Battle Below the Clouds raises funds to provide fun, year-round activities for kids with pediatric cancer and their families through the Lana’s Love Foundation.

2024 team registration opens to previous competitors in February and to the public in March.
